Our Mission
Uptown Dance Center for Performing Artists exists to provide children and families with access to high-quality dance education in a safe, nurturing, and culturally grounded environment. Founded on a lifelong love of dance, teaching, and community, our mission is to support the growth of the whole child—physically, mentally, and emotionally—through disciplined training, creative expression, and joyful movement.
We are committed to removing barriers to participation through scholarships and community-based programs, while honoring culture, family, and tradition. At Uptown, dance is more than an art form—it is a pathway to confidence, self-esteem, and lifelong strength for children and the families who support them.

Through access, education, and community connection, we strive to uplift generations of young people—helping them grow into strong, confident individuals who carry pride in themselves, their culture, and their community both on and off the dance floor.

Annual Dance Recital
Each June, Uptown Dance Center for Performing Artists proudly presents our Annual Dance Recital—a joyful community celebration of our students’ growth and hard work. Every student has the opportunity to perform two dance routines on stage, highlighting the skills, confidence, and creativity they have developed throughout the year.
Held in a theater setting, dancers perform in full costume under the lights, experiencing the excitement and pride of a live performance. Families, friends, and community members are warmly invited to attend, cheer, and celebrate our dancers together.
Our annual recital is more than a performance—it is a shared moment of accomplishment, connection, and joy that brings our Uptown community together and creates lasting memories for our students and their families.
Competition
Students at Uptown have the opportunity to participate in local, regional, and national dance competitions as part of our advanced performance programs. Participation requires a strong commitment to regular dance classes, along with additional rehearsals to learn and refine choreography. Dance teams are formed through auditions or invitation, ensuring each student is placed in an environment where they can grow and succeed. Through competition, students develop showmanship, discipline, and teamwork while learning the importance of sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect. These experiences also help students build confidence, friendships, and valuable social skills that extend far beyond the stage.
Summer Camp
Our Summer Dance Camp Intensives for ages 8 to 14 offer an exciting and enriching experience where students are immersed in dance and the performing arts each day. Campers participate in a variety of daily dance classes while also exploring other performing arts disciplines that encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression. In addition to studio training, students enjoy cultural field trips that connect learning to the world around them, helping them grow both artistically and socially. This program is designed to inspire, educate, and create lasting memories in a supportive, family-centered environment.
